We know all sorts of AC systems

Strange noises in your system
Maybe a screw is loose – often a simple fix. However, you also could have other, more serious complications, such as a bad blower motor or a bent fan blade.

Poor maintenance
If filters and air conditioning coils become dirty, the air conditioner will not work properly, and the compressor or fans may fail prematurely. Avoid these problems by cleaning coils periodically and changing filters every month or so – more if you have a lot of people or pets in the house.

Refrigerant leak
When your air conditioner is low on refrigerant, either it leaks or it wasn’t properly charged when it was installed. Adding refrigerant won’t solve a leak. A trained technician should fix any leak, test the repair, and then charge the system with the correct amount of refrigerant. Your air conditioner performs best when the refrigerant charge exactly matches the manufacturer's specification, meaning it’s neither undercharged nor overcharged. Refrigerant leaks also can hurt the environment.

Drainage issues
When it's humid outside, check the condensate drain to make sure it’s draining properly and isn’t clogged. In Alabama, it’s humid for much of the year, so it’s a good idea to put this on your periodic checklist.

Unusually high utility bills
Inefficient operation may be due to dirt -- either the filter needs changing or the condensing coil is accumulating debris.
