That’s because most AC systems are designed to cool a home or business to a temperature about 20 degrees cooler than the outside air.
Say the air outside is 95 degrees. The AC system will work hard to get the indoor temperature to 75 degrees, but much cooler than that is not feasible. It’s not you; it’s how AC systems work.
More tips
• Don’t make this rookie AC-owner mistake: People think that they can lower the temperature more quickly by pushing it to an extreme low – say 64 degrees when they want it to hurry to 73 degrees.
This may make the system run longer and harder, but AC systems are not like the gas pedal on a car that you can push to the floor to speed up.
• We tend to have muggy, sticky summers thanks to high humidity. Your AC system will remove some of the humidity, but a humidifier will help you through the summer doldrums.
