Boilers have some drawbacks, but overall they have been heating homes quietly and reliably for decades.
Their energy efficiency is proven. Boilers often need less energy than other systems; they push heated air through radiant floors or radiators. This heat is spread about smoothly, reducing the feeling that this room is too hot or that room is too cold. And they don’t make all the noises that some HVAC systems do. Best of all, they can outlast other systems if they are well-maintained.
One drawback: Boilers don’t boost the temperature in your office or home as quickly as a furnace.
Another disadvantage: Boilers don’t have the dual benefit of heat pumps, which offer both energy-efficient heating and air-conditioning.
Still, if you are looking to replace your boiler, another boiler may be the best answer for you.
